A guest has revealed they attended a ‘disastrous’ wedding where a ‘homophobic’ and very drunk priest arrived late and completely ruined the couple’s nuptials
A wedding guest has recalled how the priest responsible for marrying a new husband and wife had ruined the proceedings with his ‘unforgivable and unforgettable’ behaviour. After admitting that the priest was ‘visibly drunk’ he told how the late arrival and subsequent behaviour had turned the ceremony into: “The most disastrous service I’ve ever attended.”
He said: “Not only was that man not walking properly, that entire service was a s**t show,” before admitting the priest had kept guests, as well as the bride and groom, waiting at the altar, arriving at the ceremony an hour and a half late. Following this he then revealed his homophobic behaviour to the entire bridal party: “At one point he just went on and on about how he was so overjoyed that this was a man and woman getting married, not a f*g and another f*g.”

And when the church collection was passed around for guests to hopefully contribute to he reminded them of why they should donate: “He told everyone to give a lot of money so they would go to heaven.”
And after revealing that the priest had been reported numerous times, he said that the real reason he was allowed to continue to solemnise weddings was: “He is one of the few that will marry a Catholic with an atheist or other denominations.”
His Reddit recollection had readers in hysterics, with many others revealing their own disastrous days, with one commenting: “We noticed that our stand-in priest was a bit forgetful (actually I suspect he had full blown Alzheimer’s). Took about 15 minutes to get him to realise we were Jon and Sharon and not Derrick and Mary.”
One recalled a funeral faux pas as they laid their grandmother to rest: “ The priest kept calling her Bernice to the entire funeral mass. Her name was Melissa.”
One photographer from Kentucky recalled: “I photographed a wedding once where the very tipsy priest had his wife bring a bag with plastic wine glasses and cheap wine to toast the couple. The brides family was from the UK and asked me if all our weddings were like that!”
