Police have said they will be increasing patrols and speaking to schools around the Guildford borough following incidents where ducks have been injured by people firing catapults.
According to the force, there have been a number of issues of anti-social behaviour in Ash, including the use of catapults to harm ducks on the nearby Basingstoke Canal.
A spokesperson for Surrey Police said: “We have increased our patrols in the local area and have been working with the local schools to provide education around the dangers of using weapons such as catapults. We are also working closely with the Basingstoke Canal Authority.”
You should contact the police if you do see anyone firing their catapults, or doing anything to harm wildlife.
You can contact the force in many ways: via Webchat on their website; using the police online reporting tool; or by dialling 101. Make sure to use the incident reference number PR/45250059999.
Alternatively, if you do not wish to speak to police, you can call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
