Transport for London has warned an entire London Underground line will shut this weekend for maintenance work.

Buses will replace trains on the Metropolitan line on Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6, while affected passengers are also advised to use other Tube routes or local buses.

Part of the Piccadilly line is also due to shut on both days for similar improvements. There will be no service between South Harrow and Uxbridge, as TfL says people impacted should use either local or replacement buses which will be provided.

Disruption as Pride returns to London

It comes as roads across Central London are also due to shut on Saturday for the annual Pride parade. From midday onwards 35,000 people will march in the procession from Hyde Park Corner, through Piccadilly Circus, down Haymarket and along Cockspur Street to the main stage and rallying point at Trafalgar Square, culminating at Whitehall Place.

TfL says the majority of its services will be running, but Tube stations will be busy and passengers may have to queue before boarding a train. Some bus will also be on diversion or stopping short of their usual destination due to road closures.

Those planning to watch the parade or attend events in Trafalgar Square or Soho are advised to use the following stations

  • Bond Street
  • Charing Cross
  • Embankment
  • Leicester Square
  • Oxford Circus
  • Tottenham Court Road
  • Victoria

Some stations may be exit-only due to large crowds in the area. British Summertime Festival taking place in Hyde Park might lead to more congestion at stations across the West End.
