A bride has been slammed for ordering her bridesmaids to lose weight so they fit into size 8 dresses on her wedding day – and send her a £400 wedding donation so she can enjoy her dream honeymoon
A woman has been branded a ‘bridezilla’ for ordering her bridesmaids to ‘hit the gym’ so they can fit into size 8 dresses for her special day. In a group message, the bride set out the rules and requirements she expects her bridesmaids to follow in the run-up to and at her wedding.
Within this, she ordered her closest friends to lose weight, cut their hair and send her money so she could enjoy her dream honeymoon on their dime. The messages, which have been reshared on Reddit, read: “Welcome to my bridal party. I’m so excited to marry the man of my dreams. As you know this is going to be a very different wedding. We are hoping to do it outside and understand December is generally a cold month but in Oklahoma, it’s usually sunny and 70F.
“Just a few things to ask. I hand-picked all the dresses and bridesmaids that will be there and they will all be a size 8. So if you’re not a size 8, I recommend hitting the gym.” She tries to justify this “crazy” requirement by sharing how she has been picturing her wedding since she was in diapers and “wants it to be perfect”.
She added: “Your nails need to be cut short and uncoloured. Hair needs to be shoulder length and straightened so if your hair is short get extensions. No fake tans. As you may notice my bestie [NAME REMOVED] isn’t the maid-of-honour and is just going to be a guest. If you don’t know why just ask, we have an understanding.”
She goes on to explain how the wedding is child-free, except for the flower girl who will only be present to “throw the flowers and then her parents will take her home”. She ended her message with: “I’m sorry if this seems like a lot of demands but this is a special day and I just want it like I have always pictured. Please be respectful and we will have an awesome time.

“One last thing, I’ll be sending my Venmo and cash app to the ones who haven’t paid the $500 (£400) donation toward my honeymoon in Hawaii. Love you guys. Can’t wait to be a wifey.” While most users slammed the ‘entitled’ bride, others shared how they’d react to receiving such a message.
One user said: “Why would anyone cut their hair shoulder length for a party? And all of the dresses are a size 8? What if someone is smaller than 8? Oh, and if you are larger you have to go to the gym. WTF? Tacky.”
Another user added: “Guessing bestie can’t get down to an 8 in time or has some other “flaw” like a scar, tattoo, hearing aid, etc.” A third user said: “Hell no. That would earn an immediate response from me backing out of being in the bridal party. I wouldn’t even go to the wedding after that.”
