No matter how many systems schools try to implement to control the flow of traffic during pick up and drop offs, you’re almost always stuck in a stand still. To try to avoid this, one man started parking his car in a stranger’s driveway, hoping he’d get away with it because he only needs to space for ‘a few minutes’.

When the homeowner complained, the dad threatened to call the police on him for harassment. Taking to Reddit, the homeowner said: “I live in a quad plex near a school. Well, every once in a while people park in our driveway to pick their kids up. This year a guy started doing the daily. It’s blocks our driveway. He pulled in one day when I went to walk my dogs. The guy backs into our drive way, so I went and told him he can’t park there it is a private driveway. Him and his wife tell me, ‘We’re just picking our daughter up’.

“I told them I get that but it’s still a private driveway and you can’t park here. I asked him if he would park in our neighbour’s driveway which is a house and he said well no, I get your point and he moved to the field next to my house.”

Brushing it off, he continued walking his dog towards the field near his house – but he hears a man yelling at him from a distance.

He added: “He sees me and starts yelling at me saying he will call the cops if I come over and harass them with my phone and take pictures of them.

“I was messing with my phone starting my Audible book. I told him I was just walking my dogs. He wouldn’t listen. But thankfully they stopped using our driveway as student pick up any more.”

While most users blasted the entitled dad, others say they would have taken things further to prove a point to him.

One user said: “He knew he was wrong, and he was deflecting by trying to find fault with what you were doing. Jerk.”

Another user added: “You know an instant response from both you and him would be to call a tow truck right in front of him, saying I have a person in my driveway I didn’t consent to being here and then watch him backtrack so fast and peel out of there.”

A third user said: “Last time I looked, having your phone in your hand on your own property isn’t illegal anywhere. If he feels harassed, he can always move.”

One more user added: “I’d pay a tow truck to sit there a few days for a bit.”

If you’re having issues with your neighbour, you should always to to solve it informally by talking to them. You could also use a mediation service if this doesn’t work. In certain situations you could make a complaint to your local council, or contact the police if they are breaking the law. You can find more information on the government’s website.
