A woman has sparked a debate after sharing how an ‘entitled’ stranger parked up in her driveway without warning. She explained how she returned home from work at around 5.05pm on Friday to see a mum and her son parked in her driveway.

Confused, she slowly drove up to her house before asking the ‘complete stranger’ to kindly move, assuming she had made a mistake and parked up at the wrong house. She said on Reddit: “Our street is a private road where we all own our own sections of land and our driveways are opposite from our houses (on the other side of the road).

“I pull on the the street and see a car parked on my driveway and a mother/son duo heading in to my next door neighbour’s house. I roll my window down and ask if its their car, it is, so I ask of they can move it.”

While apologising for the inconvenience, the woman assured her she’d only be parked there a few minutes and asked her to wait. She added: “I replied, ‘that’s great, but it’s my property and my actual driveway and Id like to park my car.’

“I will admit I definitely had a bit of an attitude here, it’s been a long week and I had stuff to do and really just wanted to get in the house. Also, who thinks it’s OK to park on a strangers driveway!

“As she’s pulling off my driveway, she has the audacity to call me pathetic and her son is stood at the door telling me to park and leave it… I would sir, but your mother is still blocking my path to do so.

“I was so angry I was shaking by this point and just praying I wouldn’t stall my car and look like a total t***.”

Wanting to know whether she overreacted, she has taken to social media to ask users for their thoughts.

In response, one user said: “Could you parallel park behind them and block them in? That’s what her son said to do, after all…”

Another user added: “I really don’t understand the people who are so entitled that they think they can park anywhere they want, it’s pure selfishness.

“During pick up at my kid’s elementary school I’ve had to ask people not to park in the crosswalk. ‘But there’s no where else to park’.

“First, it makes it very unsafe for the kids crossing the road as they can’t easily be seen by drivers. My kids use that cross walk, you are making this unsafe for my children. Second, the school has a parking lot, use it?”

A third user said: “I lived in apartment complex. We had one space per unit. I had a neighbour who’s girlfriend would park wherever she wanted. Sometimes blocking me in. Sometimes taking my spot if I wasn’t home when she showed up.

“After the third or fourth time, I told them I was going have the landlord tow her car and I won’t give you the courtesy of letting you know before hand.

“She didn’t believe me. It was towed a few days later and it was never a problem again.”
