If you are due to get paid earlier because of the August bank holiday, you’ll have a longer wait until your next payment – which means you’ll need to make your money last longer

If you’re claiming certain benefits such as Universal Credit, you may find your payment date could change this month.

That’s because there is a bank holiday on Monday, August 26. If you’re due to receive a benefit payment on this day, then you’ll likely receive your money early on Friday, August 23 instead. But if you are due to get paid earlier, you’ll have a longer wait until your next payment – which means you’ll need to make your money last longer than normal.

Your benefits will be paid into your normal account and the amount you’re due to receive shouldn’t change. Whether you get paid early or not all depends on when you normally receive your benefits. For example, Universal Credit is paid on the same day each month, while Tax Credits are typically paid every four weeks or weekly. Child Benefit is usually every four weeks on a Monday or Tuesday.
