We’re set for some respite from the rain
Sun in London has been sparse as of late but there will, thankfully, be some respite before the end of the year. But there won’t be much chance to soak in the rays, with 10 days of rain then set to follow.
There will be sun over London from tomorrow (Tuesday 9) until Thursday. The best of the weather will be on Wednesday and Thursday, when there will be sunny intervals with a gentle breeze and temperatures of 13C and 12C respectively.
A brutal stint of rain will then creep in over the capital and soak Londoners for 10 days straight. From Friday (December 12) until Sunday (December 21), there will be light rain or drizzle across the city. Temperatures will also bounce around the low teens.
While London is set to be damp, it will miss out on the yellow weather warnings which have been put in place across other parts of the UK. The South West, Midlands and parts of Scotland are covered by the warnings which will last up until Wednesday.
What is the Christmas weather forecast?
BBC ’s long-range weather forecast currently only reaches up until Sunday, December 14. The Met Office doesn’t offer a specific long-range forecast so there is still a while before Londoners can expect to see a prediction from them.
Its general UK forecast suggests that there will be rain and some snow in parts of the UK from December 22 to January 5. The Met Office long-range forecast says: “Changeable conditions are expected across the UK during this period. Low pressure systems will probably dominate, meaning showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times, for much of the UK and some hill snow in the north.
“Periods of strong wind are also possible, especially around coasts. Some drier, more settled spells are possible but how long these last is very uncertain. Temperatures will likely be close to average or slightly above overall.”
