If those expensive cleaners promising a ‘streak-free’ finish have let you down again and again, an expert has shared his genius 45p hack guaranteed to leave your windows sparkling
Put down the expensive glass cleaner and say cheerio to streaky windows for good.
If the recent sun has quite literally shed light on how dirty your windows have become, it’s time to muster up the energy and give them a wash. However, even fancy products that promise a streak-free finish often leave Brits full of disappointment, wishing they had never bothered in the first place. Luckily, a cleaning expert has revealed his top tip for banishing murky glass and leaving your windows sparkling – and it involves ditching products altogether. In fact, all you need is a 45p item and some water.
“Many people are surprised to learn that you don’t need a fancy, expensive cleaner to get your windows looking their best,” Neil from Bust the Dust said. “In fact, many of the products on the market can leave behind residues that cause streaks… By using just water and a microfibre cloth, you can avoid this problem entirely.”
According to the Express, the expert recommends taking a damp microfibre cloth to your windows to remove any dirt and bacteria. Then, simply buff the window clean with a second, dry microfibre cloth. If you’re not keen on a no-product clean or have extremely dirty windows that need an extra dose of TLC, you can try spritzing them with diluted white vinegar first.
You can pick up microfibre cloths from your nearest supermarket or online for a couple of quid. For example, Tesco is currently selling a four-pack for £1.80, which works out at just 45p per cloth. “You’re not using any chemicals that can harm wildlife or pollute water sources, and microfibre cloths can be washed and reused multiple times,” Neil added. “It’s a small investment that can make a big difference in your cleaning routine.”
