UK homes are being urged to know the risks before streaming tomorrow’s Fury v Usyk fight for free.

With the cost of living crisis still hurting wallets, more of us than ever are trying to stream content for free. Adapted Fire TV Sticks, side-loaded Android apps and watching via PC web browsers are some of the most popular ways of trying to access premium sporting action and movies without paying but viewing via unofficial channels comes with a caution.

Ahead of tomorrow’s hotly anticipated fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk experts are warning Brits that streaming for free could put them at “serious risks”.

And it’s not just the fact that it’s highly illegal. Cyber criminals are well aware of the hype surrounding the undisputed heavyweight title bout in Saudi Arabia and will be looking for ways to cash in.

Many free streams advertised online actually end up being fake with users only realising they’ve been duped after handing over credit card details. Then there are the dangers of vicious malware with crooks often asking consumers to install software to tune in – in reality, this is often laced with data-stealing bugs that can pinch passwords and bank details.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to lock horns in a huge bout on May 18 with each fighter attempting to etch their name in boxing history as the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999. The stakes couldn’t be higher as the pair will go head to head for the prestigious WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF titles.

“Avoiding the official routes to legitimately watch, the highly anticipated fight between Fury and Usyk this Saturday, will be illegal and can expose consumers to serious risks,” explained Kieron Sharp, CEO FACT.

“From malware installation on devices, accessing bank accounts or stealing personal data like emails, personal photos and browsing history, consumers can become a prime target for seasoned fraudsters.

“FACT are leading the way in combatting digital piracy and working with law enforcement and industry to identify those behind these criminal networks and crackdown on illegal streaming.

“FACT are proud partners of BeStreamWise.com which aims to highlight the risks of illegal streaming, inform the public of the facts and most importantly, providing information on where consumers can safely watch content they love. Boxing fans should enjoy the superior live coverage offered through official providers rather than worry about consumer risks or breaking the law”.

If that’s got you concerned and you still want to tune in there are two official ways to watch. Sky Box Office is showing all the action from Riyadh – it costs £24.95. If you don’t have Sky then DAZN is also showing the fight – the streaming service is also charging £24.95 for access.

The boxing will be going on throughout the evening with the main event between Fury and Usyk set to start at around 11pm BST.
