First photos of Hither Green stabbing scene after man in 20s dies in attack

The first pictures from Hither Green show a heavy police presence in South London after a man in his 20s was stabbed to death. Officers and paramedics were called to Hither Green Lane at 3.20pm on Tuesday, October 28 to reports of the attack.

He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries where he died shortly afterwards. The man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Pictures taken near the cordon show officers reassuring members of the community. Residents who live within the taped off area are being escorted to their home while the closure is in place.

Police are still searching for the attacker with a murder investigation underway . Those with information relating to the incident are urged to share it via 101, quoting 4648/28OCT.

Superintendent Nick Jowett, of the Met’s Royal Borough of Greenwich Policing team said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this distressing time.

“Although we are in the very early stages of the investigation, I can assure you that detectives are working at pace to identify those responsible for this senseless attack. In the meantime, local residents can expect to see an increased police presence across the area. Please speak to them if you have any concerns.”
