A forensic tent has been set up in South London following reports of a stabbing. The incident is understood to have occurred in Frith Road, Croydon, which is currently closed to traffic.
Eyewitnesses report seeing a woman lying on the ground, critically injured, with others reporting there could be two victims. The tent has been set up in an alleyway next to a nail bar.
Joseph, Chair of Croydon Business Assocation and trader at Surrey Street market, told MyLondon: “We heard some voices at 9 o’clock and I went there and I saw it had already happened. Ambulance and police were there.
“In the alleyway two people were stabbed, one is a woman and she died. They put a forensic tent outside outside a flat in the alleyway.”
He added: “This is very hard and sad in my heart. But for the safety of the women in our town the safety of those living in town centre or customers coming to the area – we need more safety in our town.”
The Metropolitan Police Service has not yet confirmed any casualties or fatalities. MyLondon has got the first pictures from the scene.
