A foolish South London dealer who got caught selling drugs twice in two weeks has been jailed. Dequane Cunningham, 28, was first arrested for supplying drugs from his Ford Focus on October 26 last year, but stupidly used the same car to sell crack cocaine and heroin again just over two weeks later.

Surrey Police officers were on proactive patrols in Merstham when they noticed the Ford parked on Brook Road. A pedestrian ran off from the scene after spotting the police, which aroused suspicions about whether a drug deal had been taking place.

After stopping and searching both the driver and the car officers found a mobile phone – which was ringing constantly – cash, and items believed to be used in the supply of drugs. They also later uncovered text messages relating to county lines drug dealing.

Cunningham was arrested for being the supplier of Class A drugs and released on conditional bail. While the investigation continued, the 28-year-old was spotted once again by officers in Redhill on November 13.

He was driving the same Ford Focus which had been searched previously and was in breach of his bail conditions. He was stopped and a vehicle search uncovered numerous phones and SIM cards, cash, and a package suspected to contain crack cocaine and heroin concealed within the frame of the car.

As a result Cunningham was arrested again. On Friday, August 22 this year he was convicted of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin and being concerned in the supply of both drugs.

The South Londoner was sentenced to five years and nine months behind bars.

PC Roberts-McCaig from Reigate Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “These sentences are part of our continued effort into dismantling the organised crime networks and drug supply lines within Surrey. We urge anyone who has information regarding the supply or use of drugs in their local area to report it to us.”
