Foreign Office travel advice for FIFA World Cup 2026 when flying from Heathrow Airport

The Foreign Office has issued guidance for the tournament which will be held over 39 days across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with England drawn in Group L

Following the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, football fans are eagerly awaiting the 2026 tournament set to take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The much-anticipated event will run from June 11 to July 19 next year.

In the US, cities including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Seattle, and the San Francisco Bay Area will play host to the matches. As excitement builds, the Foreign Office has issued travel advice for those planning to attend the games.

The Foreign Office advises:

  • entry requirements, and local laws and customs, will likely be different for each of the countries co-hosting the tournament. If you are planning to visit or transit through more than one country, check the travel advice page for each country

Expect other cities and popular tourist destinations across the US to be busier than usual during the tournament.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will mark the 23rd edition of the tournament, but it will be the first to feature 48 teams and three host countries, reports the Liverpool Echo.

FIFA has now unveiled the teams in each group for the group stage of the tournament.

The groups were drawn in an event led by former England captain Rio Ferdinand, with sporting legends Tom Brady, Wayne Gretzky, Aaron Judge, and Shaquille O’Neal assisting.

The star-studded draw show was hosted by Kevin Hart, Heidi Klum, and Danny Ramirez, featuring opening performances by Andrea Bocelli and entertainment from Robbie Williams, Nicole Scherzinger, Lauryn Hill, and the Village People.

England finds itself in Group L alongside Croatia, Ghana, and Panama.
