So no one told you doughnuts were going to be this way? Krispy Kreme has finally launched specially themed treats in celebration of TV hit series Friends’ 30th anniversary
Krispy Kreme launched some fun themed doughnuts in celebration of the Friends’ 30th anniversary.
In September this year, it will have been three decades since the first episode of the iconic sitcom aired on TV and fans fell in love with Jennifer Aniston on screen as Rachel, Courteney Cox as Monica, Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe, Matt LeBlanc as Joey, David Schwimmer as Ross, and the late Matthew Perry as Chandler. Stars of the show are set to reunite in celebration of the anniversary in LA, according to a former executive of the show.
Meanwhile in the UK there is a permeant exhibition and experience being set up in London’s ExCel centre, plus Krispy Kreme have got on board. This week, the iconic doughnut brand launched a range of limited edition treats called ‘The One We Share with Our Friends’.
Four pastries have been launched exclusively in UK stores and are available online and in Krispy Kreme stores until July 21. On the menu, doughnuts fans can try four TV-inspired treats named: How you Doin’?, Trifle, We Were On A Coffee Break, and Friends. True fans of the show know the names honour some of the most iconic quotes and episodes from the show.
The Friends doughnuts is an Original Glazed with chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles. It also has an edible fountain in the middle – similar to the one featured in the show’s credits.
The We Were On A Coffee Break doughnut is a homemade treat with caffè latte icing and chocolate swirl frosting. On top of the doughnut there is a Central Perk Cafe chocolate topper. The Trifle doughnut is a treat filled with strawberry and custard and topped with chocolate frosting and sprinkles.
The How You Doin’ doughnut features a design inspired by Monica and Rachel’s apartment door. This treat is mango and passionfruit flavoured. You can get your hands on a sharing box of the treats, to give them all a try, for £39.90. The box includes three of each doughnuts with a total of 12.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Krispy Kreme UK said: “Could these BE any more delicious? Dive into our FRIENDS doughnuts collection and celebrate 30 years of the iconic TV show! Get yours before they PIVOT out!”
Also included in the novelty collection is a ‘Joey Dozen Share’ doughnut slicer. A Krispy Kreme spokesperson said: “We couldn’t believe it when we found out 39% of Brits don’t share food, so we’ve made it even easier to share your new Friends inspired doughnuts with the ‘Joeys’ in your life!”
Reacting to the news, one doughnut fan said: “Well looking forward to these!” One other added: “Can’t wait!”
“Getting mine tomorrow and I can’t wait,” one excited individual said. “Omg,” said one other.
