‘My home is quite tricky to keep warm due to single-glazed windows, but this heater has been a game-changer.’
As the weather grows colder, Amazon shoppers are turning to a compact space heater to avoid whacking on the heating. Originally £64.99, the Dreo Electric Heater is now down to £42.49. You can also get the heater for £42.27 on eBay. On Amazon, the Dreo space heater comes in silver, white, and black and gold, with only the latter discounted.
The heater is remote-controlled, with heat adjustment, timers, and modes all controlled from the accompanying remote. The brushless motor makes only 34dB of noise, roughly equivalent to a loud whisper. The heater’s temperature ranges from five to 35 degrees, and it has plenty of functions: power heat, eco, and fan only modes, plus a 12-hour timer, mute, child lock, and memory function.
There are also safety features on the heater. There’s a tilt-detection sensor that shuts off the heater if it tips over, and it’s built with flame-retardant materials. There’s also overheat protection and a safety plug.

Alternatively, you can try the DYSON Hot+Cool Gen 1 Purifying Fan Heater, which is £549.99 at Currys. The fan circulates purified air, uses a HEPA filter to remove particles, and it can both cool and heat rooms.
On the cheaper side, there’s the Bush 2kW Upright Fan Heater for £22 at Argos. The fan heater blows both cool and hot air, and has a 1.5-metre cord and a safety switch that prevents overheating.
The Dreo heater has 4.6 stars from 6,141 reviews. One person said: “This is a brilliant little machine that packs a lot of useful features. It runs quietly and has a fan that helps distribute heat evenly. My home is quite tricky to keep warm due to single-glazed windows, but this heater has been a game-changer. I use it to warm my bedroom for about half an hour before bed, and it’s made a massive difference.”

They added: “Overall, I’d highly recommend this heater. It’s reasonably priced considering all the features it offers, and if I needed another, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one.”
Another wrote: “I’ve used this to heat a small room in an outbuilding. Instant heat, fully adjustable temperature and eco mode. Nice and compact and better than what I’ve tried previously (fan heaters, oil filled heaters, diesel heaters). Would recommend this for anyone looking to heat a small space fast. Great value.”
However, a few people complained the heater was not as silent as advertised. One of them wrote: “It is not silent. Must have been a person with hearing difficulties that tested it.”
But another pleased shopper said: “It’s rare I write a review but sometimes you find something good enough to recommend. First impressions on unboxing was this is small, about the size of a kitchen roll, a lot smaller than expected. Small enough to put on a shelf or windowsill. But turns out size doesn’t matter with this. It quickly blows out heat with a few easy-to-use settings. I’ve just set it to keep a medium-sized room to 21C and it just comes on now and then silently and does its thing.”
