A man is in hospital after he was reportedly chased from a pub and sprayed in the eyes with a substance in South London. The victim, who is in his 40s, was allegedly pursued and chemically attacked by a gang of men from a pub on Chatterton Road, Bromley, at around 4pm on Wednesday (May 29), according to the Met Police.

After the terrifying incident, the man was rushed to hospital for treatment by paramedics where he is still undergoing investigations. Police have said his condition is not life-threatening. On Wednesday, forensics scoured the pavements around the pub, looking for clues. While the crime scene has now closed, police say they are still making enquiries.

The London Fire Brigade also confirmed two fire engines and around 10 firefighters were called to a chemical incident just after 4:10pm, where they assisted paramedics and police. “One man suffering an eye injury was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service,” added an LFB spokesperson. They said the incident was over by around 5:20pm.

We treated a patient at the scene before taking them to hospital,” added an LAS spokesperson.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD5177/29May. You can also provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
