Netflix has secured the lead for its much-anticipated thriller series, adapted from SA Cosby’s critically lauded 2023 novel.
All the Sinners Bleed centres on the story of the first Black sheriff in a small Bible Belt town, grappling with personal loss while hunting a long-elusive serial killer.
The streaming giant has announced that Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, known for his roles in Gangs of London and Black Rabbit, will portray the determined sheriff.
The adaptation is being crafted by Joe Robert Cole, the acclaimed screenwriter behind the Marvel blockbusters Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever directed by Ryan Coogler.
Set to span nine episodes, the drama’s release date and additional casting remain under wraps, reports the Mirror.
The official synopsis teases: “Haunted by his devout mother’s untimely death, the first Black sheriff in a small Bible Belt county must lead the hunt for a serial killer who has quietly been preying on his Black community for years in the name of God.”
Eager fans looking forward to Netflix’s latest addition to their murder mystery lineup, following the success of Untamed and Department Q this year, are encouraged to delve into the source material.
NPR has praised Cosby as a leading figure in the burgeoning and diverse new wave of crime fiction authors.
On Reddit, an enthusiastic reader hailed All the Sinners Bleed as “nothing short of phenomenal”.
“This might just be the best crime thriller I’ve ever read and I’ve read some damn good ones,” they enthused.
“I can’t really express how good of a writer he is. This dude couldn’t write a bad book if he tried. All four of his novels are excellent and provide such great reading experiences.”
