I’m doing ok and I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses and staff at @LMHospital who looked after me but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Be Safe.”

The TV star, who regularly cycles and takes part in triathlons and Ironman challenges, said: “This week I had a really bad accident and it really shook me. Honestly, I’m lucky to be here. You have got to wear a helmet. I don’t care how short the journey is or that these helmets cost money, but they are crucial.

“I am lucky to be standing here, I am in pain. It’s been a brutal week and I’m sort of getting through it. This weekend is massive, it is Father’s Day and I want to wish you all a Happy Father’s Day but please wear a helmet. Because if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be here now.”
