Iris Jones, 83, married 46 years younger Mohamed Ibrahim, 37, after a whirlwind online romance. The couple split last year and the grandmother is focussing her attention on ‘scam hunting’
A 83-year-old grandmother who married her Egyptian toyboy says her cat is the new love of her life.
Iris Jones met 46 years younger beau Mohamed Ibrahim on Facebook in June 2019. She flew to Cairo, Egypt to meet him and they wed in 2020, spending two years apart until her toy boy got his UK visa.
Iris famously spilled the beans on the couple’s sex life on This Morning ahead of their wedding, much to the amusement of former presenters Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. On their first night of passion, she revealed: “Can I say we used a whole tube of KY Jelly? I couldn’t walk the next day. I felt as if I had been riding a horse. Saddle sore wasn’t in it. Anyway we got over that.” She won a legion of new fans for her candour but sadly last year, announced the couple had split in spectacular fashion.
Mohamed was branded a ‘vile and evil nonentity’ and a ‘sewer rat’ by Iris, who claimed she had loaned him large sums of money and paid off his debts. She went onto share advice on Facebook, saying: “A warning to all vulnerable women online, chatting to scammers and con-artists, thinking they are messaging genuine males on legitimate dating sites. Be aware that they are only interested in getting their filthy paws on your money and will sweet-talk you for weeks, or even months in order to achieve their goals.”
Today, Iris is in a better place thanks to her cat Bo Jangles. The animal lover’s Facebook profile picture is of her cuddling her pet and she regularly shares photos and videos of the gorgeous Bengal on his adventures around their home town of Weston-Super-Mare in Somerset.
“Bo Jangles, my gorgeous Bengal cat, has been my saviour,” said the grandmother, who is mum to two grown-up sons, on Facebook. “He’s loyal and faithful and loving.”
Iris sensibly said ‘revenge is a dish that’s best not served at all’ after splitting up with Mohamed. She made it clear she had finished with her 37-year-old beau, who worked as a Tesco security job during their time together, saying: “The man I married did not dump me. I kicked him out on June 13, 2023, and replaced him with cat.”
As well as lavishing her cat Bo with attention, from cuddles on her bed to playing with new toys, the grandmother is determined to spend time advising people who are targeted for money online. She recently claimed four scammers had been after her cash, calling herself a ‘competent scam hunter’.
Iris previously said Mohamed had stolen £25,000 off her after moving into her bungalow, in addition to the £14,000 she had sent to him in Egypt, as well as asking her to alter her will so her would inherit her house. She says she declined to do so and remains close to her family.
After their split her ex moved on to a second older lover, Angela Rogers from Leeds. Angela, 61, told the Mirror she had spent £5,000 on romancing the Egyptian until she found out he was texting another 69-year-old woman. Mohamed denied the claims.
He previously told Mail Online of his relationship with Iris: “I don’t care about money. It’s not true that I’ve never had a job – I’ve worked all over the Middle East as a welding inspector on power stations, in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. I had a good salary. If I had been looking for money, I would have married a rich woman, not Iris.”
