It’s been a violent few days for London as eight people have been stabbed. The attacks have been spread right across the city.
Despite the violence, none of the stabbings has been fatal. However, streets city-wide have seen police tape go up as the authorities gathered evidence to find the culprits.
Bleak news aside, the latest stats from May 2024 to April 2025 showed a three per cent drop in violent crime across the capital compared to same period during the previous year. This is a drop of around 257,000 incidents.
National statistics show that while overall murders and gun incidents have fallen, offences involving knives or sharp articles have seen slight increases – about two per cent year‑on‑year up to December 2024. London-specific initiatives, such as its Violence Reduction Unit, have supported reductions in youth reoffending and homicide rates.
