An east London man has been jailed after preying on an “intoxicated” victim and raping her at an address in Bournemouth. Stuart Jarvis, 47, of Hackney, was sent to prison for more then seven years at Bournemouth Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday, May 13).

Jarvis raped the victim, who was intoxicated and unable to consent, at an address in the Queen’s Park area of Bournemouth on Valentines Day 2023. He was then arrested on February 16 after the victim, in her 40s, came forward and reported the incident to police.

He was jailed for seven years and six months at Bournemouth Crown Court yesterday, after previously pleading guilty to rape at the same court in July last year.

Detective Constable Tasha Beaufils, of BCP CID, said: “The victim has shown immense bravery and courage by coming forward to report what happened to her and also for supporting our investigation and the court process.

“Jarvis chose to take advantage of the victim in an abhorrent way while she was intoxicated and vulnerable. Nobody should have to experience what she did and I am pleased that the defendant is now facing the consequences of his actions.

“We take all reports of sexual offences extremely seriously and would urge anyone who has been the victim of a sexual assault to please come forward and report it to us.

“We always ensure victims are supported by specially-trained officers and will do everything in our power to identify those responsible and hold them to account.”
