A 30-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital following a shooting in Hammersmith. Met Police officers and paramedics rushed to Claxton Grove shortly after 11.15pm on Wednesday, June 11 following reports of a disturbance from concerned onlookers.
Scotland Yard tracked down and arrested the alleged gunman, 28, who remains in custody. The force confirmed a second man, also aged in his 30s, is being treated in hospital for minor injuries after the double shooting.
A video from the scene shows a police cordon in place with two police cars and an ambulance. Emergency services have issued an appeal for information for witnesses or anyone information that could help the attempted murder probe.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A 28-year-old man remains in police custody after he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting in Hammersmith. Police were called to a disturbance in Claxton Grove at 11.19pm on Wednesday, June 11. Upon arrival, the London Ambulance Service were treating two men for gunshot wounds.
“Both were taken to hospital where it was confirmed that a 30-year-old man has life-threatening injuries. The second victim, also in his 30s, was treated for minor injuries.
“If anyone witnessed the incident, or has any information that can help us, please contact the police as a matter of urgency on 101 quoting 8916/11JUN. To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111. Claxton Grove will remain closed while a crime scene is in place.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 11.19pm on Wednesday, June 11 to reports of a shooting on Claxton Grove. We sent resources, including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
“Our first paramedics arrived on scene in less than two minutes. We treated two patients and took them to hospital.”
