No one has been charged in connection to the daylight murder

The family of a young dad-to-be shot dead in Sydenham have issued a tragic plea for information a year on from his unsolved murder. Curtis Green was gunned down on Wells Park Road just after 10am on November 10, 2024, and died at the roadside.

Detectives believe the 30-year-old had attended a flat party on the adjacent Hensford Gardens the previous evening. No one has been charged in connection to his death as of yet.

Curtis’ family remain devastated by the loss and are re-appealing for the public’s help in getting justice. In a statement, issued via the Metropolitan Police, they said: “London communities are interconnected through music, food, friendship, love, beliefs and blood.

“Violence on the streets and young people being murdered is a concern. We, his family, appeal to those who know something to be brave and come forward. You have a chance to heal our heartache, you can speak out and ensure that you do not have to experience the hurt, grief, stagnation and destruction that we have had to endure.”

Described as an entrepreneur, Curtis was the owner of a clothing brand and fitness company at the time of his murder. He was also expecting a child in early 2025.

His family continued: “Curtis was and still is a much-loved member of our family and community, his son has now been born and will grow up not physically meeting his father. We miss Curtis every single second of every single day, we are pleading to you.

“Popularity should not come before accountability. If you know anything about what happened please come forward so that we can have some justice.”

The Metropolitan Police wants to hear from those who were in Hensford Gardens at the time of, or leading up to, the shooting. Detective Chief Inspector Samantha Townsend who is leading the investigation added: “The slightest bit of information can assist, you may not think the information that you have is important, but it may prove vital to this investigation.

“If you come forward, we will support you and try our best to ensure that we are able to protect your identity.”

Crimestoppers is also offering a £20,000 reward for any information that leads to a conviction. Online reports can be kept anonymous and phone calls cannot be traced. The money is available for three months and due to expire on February 10, 2026.

Two other people shot

Two other people – a 27-year-old man and 27-year-old woman – were shot alongside Curtis. The former self-presented at hospital with serious but not life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

The latter was shot in the legs and faced a ‘long road to recovery ‘. She remained in hospital for over a week following the incident.

Police made two arrests in connection but they were later bailed, pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to contact 101, quoting Operation Bansara or CAD 2527/10NOV24. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or the charity’s website.
