Prince William has returned to royal duties after time away with his wife Kate and their children, but one expert has claimed that he is still ‘cautious’ and protecting his family in one particular way
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ priorities align when it comes to their young family – and one expert believes this is even more evident in William’s return to royal duties.
Since Princess Kate emotionally revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment in a video message to the nation, the Wales family has been out of sight, enjoying private time together, as George, Charlotte, and Louis were on their Easter break from school.
Prince William pressed pause on his official engagements during the children’s holiday, and the family was said to spend the three-week break in their Norfolk residence Anmer Hall. However, with the children back to school, William has resumed his duties and spent time at a food redistribution charity Surplus to Supper this week.
Now one royal expert has claimed that the Prince of Wales still seems “cautious”. In what is undoubtedly a very challenging period for the Royal Family, with King Charles also off-duty as he is treated for cancer, Jennie Bond says that William still seems keen to protect his family – and his timing shows that.
The former royal correspondent for the BBC explained to OK Magazine why, in her view, the first engagement back was both a “sensible” and “cautious” choice for William’s return to royal duties. “William has chosen the day after the children go back to school to get back to work himself. That’s sensible…settle the kids in and then concentrate on official duties. And it is a cautious start… close to home and close to issues that matter deeply to him: community and the environment.”
The expert added that after spending some much-needed time as a family, Kate is likely to be “vulnerable” with her husband getting back to work, and her children returning to their classes. “Catherine will be feeling vulnerable and must have loved having this family time, with her parents also staying at Anmer Hall. I have no doubt that Carole and Mike will be on hand as much as ever to help Catherine readjust to life with her husband back at work. And William will undoubtedly take things one step at a time, only increasing his workload when his wife and his children are ready for him to do so.”
When Kate announced she had cancer, she appealed for privacy as she continues her treatment, “We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now, I must focus on making a full recovery.”
