As tennis-lovers look forward to two weeks of exciting lawn action at The Championships, one helpful fan has shared her top queuing tips for securing last-minute tickets

The long-awaited Wimbledon Championships has finally arrived for 2024, with thousands of tennis fans heading to London in a last-minute bid to bag tickets – but there are some little-known tricks to secure ‘guaranteed entry’.

Andy Murray has withdrawn from the men’s singles event following his latest injury, but the legend will still compete in men’s doubles, and one expert has shared her top tips for getting close to the action. Taking to TikTok, Iviè Milan revealed how she scooped on-the-day tickets for last year’s lawn tournament by following five simple queuing steps.

The tennis lover said: “Firstly, you need to get there early. Arrive before 9:00am and you should be good to get in. I arrived around 8:00am and I was number 3,000 in the queue. In the queue, you will be given a guide and a numbered queue card, guard this with your life. If you lose this, you won’t be able to buy tickets.”

She then urged potential spectators to “come prepared” and “make yourself comfortable” as you will most likely be waiting in the queue for hours. “I queued for around three hours, so I brought snacks, a book, an umbrella, and something to sit on,” Iviè said.

As there is a lot of standing and walking, Iviè suggests opting for comfortable clothes and shoes. She added: “There isn’t a formal dress code for ground pass tickets, but you can’t go wrong with smart casual.”

The third step involves being friendly with the people you’re queuing next to, as they can “massively” help you out. She added: “My queue card blew away without me realising and the guy I was queuing next to rescued it and brought it to me.”

Once you start making movement into the “exciting area”, where brands hand out “free coffee and Pimm’s”, Iviè explained that you’re “pretty much guaranteed entry from here”. She advised: “There’s games and opportunities to win tickets to the finals, take what you can, but don’t get too distracted here. Especially if your goal is to make it to one of the better courts.”

When you finally arrive at the front of the queue and it’s time to purchase tickets, make sure you have packed your photo ID if you’re hoping to scoop Centre Courts and Courts 1 and 2. “Ground tickets can be bought without any ID and are now £30,” added Iviè.

During last year’s event, the ground ticket gave Iviè entry to matches on Court 3, 12 and 18, as well as the outside courts. She continued: “It’s also possible to buy Centre Court tickets here too, depending on how many days left of the Championships.”

Iviè concluded: “Attending Wimbledon can be such a long day, so ensure you’re well rested the night before. I wasn’t lucky enough to get ballot tickets this year, but I’m still hoping to go so see you there.”

Followers rushed to the comments to share their responses to the helpful video, as one user penned: “I went at 4am and walked straight in,” as another gushed: “This was so helpful, thank you.”

A third added: “Geez wish I knew this back in the day when I went there hoping to get in.” While a fourth advised: “Amex are selling return tickets this year. Saw a video on TikTok giving details a couple of days ago.”

Also known as American Express, the bank is giving cardmembers exclusive access to last-minute tickets on Centre Court, as well as the opportunity to purchase hospitality tickets for Wimbledon 2025.
