The ‘magical’ festive market looks ‘lovely’ with ‘cosy stalls, mulled wine and twinkly lights’

With Christmas festivities now in full swing, families are planning their festive days out. Traditional Christmas markets remain a firm favourite every year, and London boasts numerous options. One ‘magical’ choice could be the Victorian Christmas village at St Katharine Docks, next to Tower Bridge.

According to a Facebook page for the event, the market is open daily from 11am to 8pm, until January 6. Praising the ‘storybook’ market on TikTok, blogger @yaroslava_kirichok loved the ‘hidden’ event. The video said: “This is the most magical Christmas market no one talks about.” The caption explained: “Hidden in the shadow of Tower Bridge, this Victorian-style Christmas market feels like stepping straight into a storybook.

“Cosy stalls, mulled wine and twinkly lights. Save this spot for your London Christmas bucket list! Next to Tower Bridge and St Katharine Docks.” The video delighted viewers, racking up almost 100k views and over 5k likes.

The Victorian Christmas village earned positive reviews on Google, reports the Mirror. Someone said: “The Victorian Christmas Market at St Katharine’s Dock looks absolutely magical at Christmas — sparkling lights, cheerful carol singers, and lots of festive stalls to explore together.

“The atmosphere feels cosy and safe, with plenty to keep both kids and adults smiling. We enjoyed a hot chocolate by the water while watching the boats twinkle — a perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit!”

A second wrote: “One of best Christmas markets I’ve been to the feeling was amazing as well as the atmosphere got some lovely tasty treats, can’t wait to go back.”

Another fan replied: “I visited the Christmas market at St Katherine’s Dock last year with my family. It was a lovely day out, lovely food, friendly staff and all set against the backdrop of Tower Bridge. Perfect Christmas outing.”

However, someone else claimed: “The Victorian Christmas Village is charming and the photo spot is especially adorable. However, there aren’t many stalls, so it feels quite small. It’s worth a visit if you’re nearby, but I wouldn’t travel a long distance for it. Solid 3/5 for cuteness, but limited offerings.”

Despite this, there was lots of praise. A reviewer added: “Absolutely, love this event. Gets you into the Christmas spirit.” St Katharine Docks has also been commended by TripAdvisor reviewers.

One response stated: “Hidden gem in London. Beautiful area with a lot of history. Variety of coffee shops and restaurants. Lovely for a short stroll to admire the buildings and yachts.”

Another read: “Interesting area with lots to see – loved the bridges lifting up to let boats in and out. Nice choice of restaurants and cafes with views of water.”
