Hornsey ‘altercation’ sees man, 27, arrested and two police injured

Two police officers have been injured and a 27-year-old man arrested after a large “altercation” broke out in Hornsey on Saturday (August 30). Video shows multiple police vehicles at the scene and officers struggling to control an incident involving a “large group of people.”

Officers were called to multiple reports of the altercation on High Street, in Hornsey, on Saturday evening at around 9.57pm. Two Metropolitan police were left with minor injuries following the incident.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault against an emergency worker and common assault. He remains in police custody.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service said: “Police were called to High Street, N8 at 21:57hrs on Saturday, 30 August following multiple reports of an altercation involving a large group of people.

“On attendance, two officers were assaulted and sustained minor injuries.

“A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault against an emergency services worker and common assault. He remains in custody.”
