Shocking dashcam footage shows the moment a van driver pulled out and hit a motorcyclist before driving off as though nothing had happened. Anthony Gilham was jailed for 22 months after admitting causing serious injury by dangerous driving in relation to the incident near Stockbury, Kent.
The 70-year-old also pleaded guilty to failing to stop and failing to report the accident in May 2023. Dashcam footage from an onlooker’s car shows the motorcyclist overtaking in the outside lane, approaching a road junction.
Gilham’s white van is then seen pulling into the lane in which the victim is driving. The motorcyclist attempts to veer away from the turning van but makes contact and is shunted heavily off the road.
Gilham’s van is then seen driving off while the car behind avoids debris in the road and pulls over, along with several other drivers.
Gilham, of Swanley in Kent, was also disqualified from driving for four years and 11 months and will be required to take an extended re-test before taking to the roads again.
