Police are investigating the incidents
London has seen a terrifying 24 hours with multiple stabbings as well as a fight, crashes and a fire wreaking havoc on the city. In South East London there were two stabbings, minutes apart, within hours of each other, one of which prompted a murder investigation.
Meanwhile a brawl in North London left two 17-year-olds in hospital with stab wounds, one of whom was fighting for his life. A separate fight in a different part of North London left two men in hospital with head injuries.
Despite this, the London Violence Reduction Unit reports that under-25 killings are down more than 50 per cent last year. There were 9,000 fewer violence with injury crimes, with knife crime plummeting by seven per cent and 1,154 fewer offences in the last 12 months.
The mayor of London has recently said: “The latest figures show robbery, theft, residential burglary and knife crime are down in London, but there’s still a long way to go before I’m satisfied. Backed with record funding from City Hall, the Met is putting high-visibility policing at the heart of fighting crime.”
