There was also the case of a mystery cannabis farm being unearthed

This week London has seen numerous, horrific crimes and crashes as police work to investigate. In Clissold Park, Stoke Newington a woman was shot alongside another shooting in Wembley.

Four people were also injured in Leicester Square after a man was allegedly threatening people with a knife, and a woman was left on life-support after a motorbike ploughed into her in Ealing. Elsewhere, a disused restaurant in Stockwell was found to be the home to a cannabis farm, locals were shocked to learn.

Despite the bleak news, the latest figures from May 2024 to April 2025 showed a three per cent drop in violent crime across the capital compared to same period during the previous year. This is a drop of around 257,000 incidents.

National statistics show that while overall murders and gun incidents have fallen, offences involving knives or sharp articles have seen slight increases – about two per cent year‑on‑year up to December 2024. London-specific initiatives, such as its Violence Reduction Unit, have supported reductions in youth reoffending and homicide rates.
