If you want to achieve that hotel-style clean in your own home, then you need to know how to tackle all the right spots – and one expert cleaner has shared her top tips
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of stepping into a freshly cleaned hotel room. The pristine white sheets, the gleaming surfaces free from dust – it’s clear that professional cleaners know their stuff when it comes to making a room spotless.
Many of us have attempted to recreate this fresh and clean sensation in our own homes. Now, a professional hotel cleaner has revealed the secrets behind achieving this level of cleanliness, emphasising the importance of focusing on the right areas.
Lisa Williams, Executive Housekeeper at The Grand, York, has highlighted one particular area that should always be cleaned first due to its propensity for harbouring germs.
If you’re keen to bring that hotel-standard cleanliness to your own home, then it’s crucial to pay attention to what are known as ‘high touch’ points before anything else.
Lisa said: “The most important thing to remember when beginning a clean is to dust and sanitise all the high-touch points first.
“Things like door handles, light switches, taps and handrails can be easy to miss later on, but host bacteria due to regularly being touched.”
Starting with these areas ensures you don’t continue to spread any germs around the room during the rest of your reset and can make the biggest difference to a room looking and feeling clean.
Once you’ve finished with the high-touch points, you can then move on to low-touch point areas like mirrors, windowsills and light fittings, and follow up with hoovering or mopping the floor, reports the Express.
Lisa added: “Cleaning a room in this order ensures that you are being as efficient as you can be.”
Afterwards, once your room is spotless, you can incorporate a few final flourishes to the appearance of a space to make it feel even more like the luxury of a hotel.
Lisa suggests putting yourself in the shoes of a visitor – even if you’re not entertaining – as it’ll provide you with a fresh outlook and reveal any minor details that you might have overlooked that require attention like a grimy mirror or a lopsided cushion.
And for the finishing touch, add a spray of room fragrance to leave your home feeling brilliant and fresh for yourself or anyone who might be visiting.
