Meghan Markle has seemingly elevated herself from being a B-list TV actress to a “mompreneur” who flogs jam.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, recently announced her new lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard. The mum-of-two hasn’t unveiled any further details, but the brand already has a website, Instagram page, swanky logo and rustic-looking promotional video.

It is also reported that Meghan’s brand has filed trademark applications, with it rumoured that the store will stock items like jams, marmalades, makeup, skincare, haircare, fragrance, pet food, yoga mats and cushions. A hard launch of the brand is expected any day, with fans gathering in their masses by following the Instagram page for the pending new brand.

This isn’t Meghan’s first website stint, with the Duchess of Sussex known for running lifestyle blog The Tig before she married Prince Harry. Meghan’s website, which is now archived, saw the then-actress share recipes, beauty tips and style hints. Meghan ran the site when she starred in hit legal drama Suits as Rachel Zane.

Writing in her new column for MailOnline, Jan Moir has now weighed in on American Riviera Orchard and Meghan’s huge U-turn from B-list celeb to swanky business owner. Touching on The Tig and how Meghan has now upped the ante, Ms Moir penned: “All she had to do to maximise her online profile and boost any future profits was to somehow — somehow! — elevate herself from B-list television actress to becoming a significant figure on the global stage; a somebody that everybody had heard of, a person who went from not knowing Oprah Winfrey neither personally nor professionally, to inviting the all-powerful media star to her wedding.”

Ms Moir then said: “Whatever you might think about the former Miss Markle, you must agree that it was mission accomplished on that front at least,” adding how she went from her first date with Prince Harry to “locking the Frogmore door for the last time” noting how it took “just over three years”.

Ms Moir then added how she doesn’t believe Meghan married Harry “purely to winkle him out of the Royal Family” or “just so that she could go on to use her royal title to launch a commercial lifestyle website”.

She then praised the “mutual ambition” that it took the Sussexes “to get where they are today”, adding how she admires “the energy, if not the approach”.
