Organisers of an anti-austerity demonstration say they expect huge support for the protest in London next month.

The People’s Assembly said trade unions, campaign groups and politicians will join the event on June 7, under the banner: No to Austerity 2.0 – Welfare Not Warfare.

Organisers said they were bringing together the widest possible coalition of trade unions, campaigners and communities.

The People’s Assembly said the aim was to protest against the Government’s welfare cuts, adding: “Developing the anti-austerity movement can be a real challenge to Reform in working class communities.

“We need a huge demonstration of unity against the Government’s return to the failed and damaging austerity policies of the past.”
