A hungry Brit was left baffled after spotting his local takeaway’s menu included a £4.49 Seekh and Tikka Mixed Kebab that comes with an adults only age-restriction
Young-looking adults might expect to have to provide ID to purchase everyday items such as matches or cigarettes, but certainly not a takeaway.
However, a Brit has revealed how one of the items at his local takeaway was rated 18+ after sharing a screenshot from a delivery site to Reddit.
Nestled between the menu’s Seekh Kebab and Seekh, Chicken Tikka and Shawarma is a Mixed Kebab – but be warned, as it appears to be for adults only.
The snap showed the £4.49 Seekh and Tikka Mixed Kebab with “18+” beside it. Writing in the r/UKFood subreddit, the perplexed customer said: “I don’t even want to know what they did to my Mixed Kebab to make it 18+.”
“Opposite of a kids meal,” quipped another Reddit user, who like everyone else on the thread was unable to offer a reasonable explanation.
Another person laughed: “There’s an Indian takeaway near ours that sells a Chicken Korma (very wild) and I just want to know what it gets up to haha.” A third theorised: “That’s only the 18+ one, as minors have disposable income theirs cost £20 giving us grafters some lift on inflation.”
Elsewhere in the comments section, other Redditors were shocked at the item’s low price tag. “Where do you live, 2005?” asked one person. “It’s over a tenner for that mixed kebab in my local kebab shop.”
A second cursed: “Those must be starters? A kebab is £15.50 anywhere near me!” A third slammed: “Jesus, down south, that would be £12.99 minimum!” And a fourth person pondered: “Where are you getting a kebab at £4.50 is the question.”
The original poster replied to confirm they had spotted the deal somewhere in the North West of England.
