Police are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted on the London Underground. Police say their suspect struck aboard a Jubilee line train just before midnight on Monday, June 9.
The victim boarded at North Greenwich and sat next to a man. He then attempted to start a conversation before violating her at some point during the 20-minute journey.
Both passengers alighted at Baker Street, where the man approached the woman again. He eventually left the station and is yet to be tracked down.
The British Transport Police (BTP) has now released a CCTV image in the hopes someone can identify a person of interest. The footage shows an Asian man with short black hair.
He is wearing a beige top, black shirt or jacket and a pair of headphones. A BTP statement reads: “Officers believe the man in the image may have information which could help their investigation.”
Earlier today, MyLondon reported the unconnected sexual assault of a woman aboard a South Western Railway train. She was violated between Barnes Bridge and Vauxhall at around 4.40pm on May 13, with her attacker also still at large.
Over 800 reports of sexual assault on the London Underground were made in 2024, according to data from Transport for London. This was an increase of 56 assaults when compared to the previous year, with 745 occurring between April 2022 and April 2023.
Anyone who recognises the man pictured is urged to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 13 of 10 June. Anonymous reports can also be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or the charity’s website.
