Three attempted murder suspects are at large after savage hit and run in East London last night. A video taken from a house overlooking Eastfield Street in Tower Hamlets shows a white car reversing over a man, appearing to break his leg in a way which makes it impossible for him to escape when the same car drives straight at him moments later.
To the horror of everyone watching, the man is caught by the bonnet of the accelerating car, flipping him head over heels and onto the ground. As the man lays there limp, the driver exits and walks straight over, appearing to stamp on the victim for good measure. Three passengers also exit the vehicle, with the driver and two passengers appearing to flee on foot.
This afternoon, Scotland Yard confirmed detectives are investigating the incident captured on the video, along with another driving incident on Morpeth Street in Mile End that is said to have happened only moments before. Three people were hit by the same car from around 9:15pm on Saturday (June 14), with one man, in his 20s, rushed to hospital and another victim not yet located.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after three people were hit by the same car in two linked incidents in Tower Hamlets. Around 21:15hrs on Saturday, 14 June, officers attended Morpeth Street, E2, alongside the London Ambulance Service, where the first incident took place.
“One man, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as non-life-changing and non-life-threatening. The condition of the second victim is unknown, and we are urging him to contact the police.
“Shortly afterwards, police were called to nearby Eastfield Street, E14, after reports of a second collision. Paramedics treated a man in his 40s at the scene for injuries. He was taken to hospital, where his condition was assessed as non-life-changing and non-life-threatening.
“The four occupants of the vehicle left the scene on foot. On Sunday, 15 June, an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been taken into police custody, where he remains. Police are making urgent enquiries to trace the three other people in the car.
“Anybody who witnessed the incident – or who has information – should call 101, quoting crime reference 7432/14JUN.”
