One dad says he knew that ditching his wife and child to go on a lads’ holiday might have some repercussions but he’s shared his shock after his wife got revenge
A man who ditched his wife and child to go on a lads’ holiday has been distraught to find out what happened while he was gone.
Being a parent is not easy. The lack of sleep; the enormous cost; the constant fear that they’ll fall over. It is a stressful occupation. One dad recently opened up about how looking after his daughter was wearing him down to such an extent he was desperate to go on a holiday.
“I love my daughter to bits but what no-one tells you is how much parenthood takes out of you. My wife quit work and now I feel like it’s all on me to pay the mortgage and bills, buy the food and nappies, and generally provide for everyone,” he explained in an anonymous letter to the Metro.
“As a result of all the stress, we’ve been arguing a lot and I decided to take up my mates’ offer of a skiing holiday, as I felt we needed some time apart. My wife wasn’t thrilled about me going off, but invited a friend to stay and it all seemed good when I left. I had the best time with my mates and for a week didn’t have a care in the world.”
What the dad did not realise is that his partner “had the raving hump” with him and that “her friend was bad-mouthing” him while he was away, arguing that he was a “waste of space”. Unfortunately for the absent dad, “somehow it all culminated in a drunken one-night-stand when they were out, which she tearfully confessed to me when I got home”.
The dad said he was left “in bits” and unsure of how to fix the relationship. “I’ve found out that my wife of two years has cheated and can’t describe how devastated I feel. On the one hand I’m so angry I want to walk out, but on the other I don’t want to break up the family as we have a nine-month-old baby,” he explained.
The couple are far from the only ones who have had relationship issues aggravated by a holiday.
One man recently admitted that he had left his partner to jet off on a break to Japan as she could not afford the cost, prompting a number of people to slam him as being selfish. The couple have been together for five years and the poster said his 25-year-old girlfriend told him she felt like he “didn’t include her” in the “impulsive” decision, after he spotted cheap flights and booked himself the holiday.
Meanwhile, one aggrieved woman said her partner’s ‘cringe’ travel habits put them in danger when they were away. “I try to be nice and give him tips but he still does things that make me cringe or could put us in danger,” she explained, before adding that she had tried to explain to her husband why the habits were an issue, but he didn’t seem to be getting the message.
