A man has spoken of feeling ‘torn’ after finding out his wife of five years had recently had an affair, admitting he’s not sure he has the courage to leave her
A husband has opened up about his ‘heartbreak’ after discovering his wife of five years had cheated on him but is now unsure of what to do next. Admitting the illicit affair had taken place during a recent business trip, the revelation, which had left him ‘truly blindsided’ had led to the 26-year-old questioning if he should get divorced.
He said: “I found out about the affair that happened on a recent work trip when my wife was out of town. It was pretty devastating, but it still hurts.” But after finding out about the deceit, he admitted he still had ‘a lot of hope left in the relationship’ commenting: “To be honest, throwing in the towel takes some effort.”
After revealing his marital meltdown on Reddit he asked for feedback from people in the know, commenting: “Those that have stayed with the same helpless hope for your relationship, did it pay off? Was it worth it? Did you waste your time to only get hurt worse?”

His post was soon flooded with comments, with many insisting that staying with his unfaithful wife wasn’t worth it. “Everyone deserves a second chance,” said one. “Except cheaters. Cheaters, you kick to the curb,” while another commented: “I stayed after an affair that took place after 10 years of marriage. We made it another 10 years before the inevitable divorce took place.”
One reader offered some heartfelt advice after being in the same situation themselves: “You deserve someone who respects and appreciates you, always. Everyone does. Not when it’s convenient, not only when you’re on the up, and not only when you’re around.”
Another revealed they wished they hadn’t stayed: “My wife confessed to being a serial cheater after 25 years of marriage. I stayed because she was the love of my life. Worst mistake of my life. I wasted another decade where I could’ve been happier without her.”
