Mums and dads have been sharing their kids’ weird, funny and sometimes concerning dreams after one parent revealed what their two-year-old shouted in their sleep
When watching a child sleep, you can only hope they dream of sunshine, unicorns, and puppies. Happy things that make their time in the land of nod easy and restful.
However, just like adults, kids are far more complex and will often think about events from the day or even a favourite memory.
One parent discovered exactly what their son fantasised about while resting after they shouted out a hilarious complaint. Taking to Reddit to share their discovery, they wrote: “If you’ve ever wondered what your two year old dreams about well, now I know.”
They went on: “My two-year-old woke up screaming last night. He’s been occasionally having night terrors recently. You can tell he’s asleep because he talks nonsense. Last night, he was fully throwing a tantrum at 2AM saying ‘NO! I want to flush the poop!!! I want to flush the poop. I do it!’ So there we have it.”
Inviting other mums and dads to share what they’ve discovered their children dream about, it wasn’t long before some hilarious and shocking revelations filled the thread.
One person replied: “My daughter had a nightmare that she wasn’t allowed to eat a fig newton. Screamed at the top of her lungs like she was on fire.” Another user added: “My three-year-old had a dream that her cousin ate her pink sprinkle donut, she woke up angry, and six months later she still talks about it.”
A third amusing anecdote from a parent read: “I heard my daughter calling ‘mama’ over the monitor so I went in to check on her. She was still asleep and was actually saying ‘muffin’ over and over.”
However, some parents shared a few worrying discoveries. One parent wrote: “Mine woke up once saying ‘no daycare teachers name no no’ which was slightly concerning.”
And someone else shared: “Our son just had his first night terror. It was the scariest thing ever because we didn’t know what was happening at first. He kept saying how his tablet was too loud and he could hear the panda snoring. I have a vivid memory from when I was four. I had a nightmare that I was kidnapped by upright walking buffaloes. I’m glad he’s not having kidnapping dreams.”
