I got a first look at Samsung’s newest Jet Bot vacuum that doubles up as a pet and child cam

Samsung has just launched a wave of new AI packed appliances but there was one insanely futuristic product that stood out to me

It’s no secret that AI is creeping into nearly every new tech gadget and while some people have their concerns, it’s been transforming the way we do things for years, just think of your simple phone GPS or editing photos with a ‘magic’ tool on sites like Canva….it’s all artificial. And it’s because of this that Samsung’s newest fleet of home appliances can offer a whole lot more than usual.

The Galaxy brand has just unveiled four new products in its home appliance line-up, with a new washing machine, vacuum, and two different fridge freezers added to their site. But these home staples are anything but standard.

From its newest AI ecobubble Washing Machine that reduces your energy costs by up to 70%, an AI Family Hub Fridge Freezer that creates shopping lists and recipe ideas to its AI Jet Bot Combo – a robot vacuum with a host of different smart features to help you around the house…..and yes it does more than cleaning.

I was invited down to London to take a sneak peek of all the products, while it was the first time anyone outside of Samsung got a glimpse at the new appliances, the attention was on a lot more than just their usual spin cycling or vacuuming features. It’s here where my attention was drawn to its newest robot vacuum…and not for the reasons you may think.

The three-in-one appliance can vacuum, mop, and sterilise your floors thanks to its AI smart and camera feature, a few flicks in the Samsung SmartThings app means you’ll be able to set exact boundaries for it to run off on its own, plus the floors that you want mopped.

While there’s a huge element of ease I sat there thinking it wasn’t too different from recent Proscenic, Roomba models, even Samsung’s older Jet Bot (without the AI camera) that was until our guide mentioned children and pets I realised there was a lot more to this seemingly standard robot vacuum. Thanks to its AI camera it can identify your home…..and if there’s anything it’s used to seeing (a.ka a pet) it’ll keep an eye on it for you – with a starting price of £1,199 an extra oomph is always welcome.

While its object recognition is handy for independent cleaning (I stuck my foot out during the demo and it effortlessly went around me) users can log any pets (and even snotty teenagers) in their SmartThings app, and when out and about this Jet Bot doubles up as a handy camera to see around your home…. a pet cam and childminder all in one.

You can even set up pre-recorded prompts (through the app of course) and as someone mentioned during the demo this can be used to speak through to people at home – let’s say you’re at work at your teenager hasn’t appeared awake for school or want to check up on your pet just simply say into the app: ‘find my dog’, and off it’ll go around your home.

Samsung may just be changing the game when it comes to pesky everyday chores….for some anyway. The AI Jet Bot wasn’t the only new home appliance I saw, although it stood above the rest. Samsung’s latest AI Family Hub Fridge Freezer probably comes second as another device that’s packed with a savvy camera (AI Vision), this time the internal fridge camera helps detect the exact food that goes in and out….for me, I couldn’t personally justify at least £3,199 for this added piece of tech.

You can now pre-register for all of Samsung’s flashy new Bespoke AI Home Appliances from their UK Store, where prices start at £909. Anyone who registers through this Samsung link will get a £50 discount. If you can’t wait until the products are released you can always browse it’s existing Jet Bot vacuum cleaners, here.
