The man was involved in a freak accident that resulted in his needing to be amputated, but managed to convince surgeons to keep his former body part for a sick meal
A man admitted to cooking and eating his own foot as part of a dinner party with best friends. Humans rarely ever turn to cannibalism, only doing so as an absolute last resort. The idea of tasting human flesh, though, has caused curiosity amongst some, while others are left completely revolted at the possibility of eating another person.
In a recent podcast, a man revealed that he has in fact tasted his own foot after it had to be removed following a motorcycle accident. Not only this, he was able to get ten of his closest friends to also gnaw down on his body part.
The man, who remained anonymous, first revealed the disgusting course of events on Reddit back in 2018, two years after he lost his foot. Speaking to Julian Morgans on his What Was It Like podcast, the man — named Shiny on the episode — explained how he got into the situation.
Back in June of 2016, Shiny was involved in a motorcycle accident after he was hit by a car and sent flying into a nearby forest in his native Texas. During the horrific collision, his foot was smashed into pieces to the point that he would never be able to walk on it again.
He was later rushed in to surgery and had his foot formally amputated, leaving him with just one fully working leg. However, as the doctors had prepared to dispose of the foot, Shiny pleaded with medics to let him keep his former appendage, according to Vice.
Three weeks later, on July 10, 2016, the man invited a group of ten friends to a heartwarming brunch for a special reason. A variety of foods were available, including apple strudel, chocolate cake and fruit tarts. But the star of the show was Shiny’s severed limb cooked and served in fajita tacos.
Shiny revealed that in total, twelve different tacos were prepared, and had been seasoned before sauces were added to the bizarre meat. After some initial hesitation, his pals began to munch down on his flesh, eliciting a very macabre response.
“The awkwardness was palpable around that table as we set those plates out,” Shiny explained, adding there was a chilling ‘cheers’ moment before his mates began to eat him. “It was really nice that everybody came together; it’s been a pleasure […] to share myself with them.”
Shiny added that his foot was cut into 2cmx2cm chunks and fried before being added to the fajitas, so “everyone got a nice chunk” of his limb. When asked about the taste, he said: “While it was tasty, it was incredibly, incredibly chewy.
“People were chewing on me for three to four minutes. I had one friend who had to spit me out; I swear she got nothing but tendon and she was just chewing on that thing forever.”
Within the US, there is no federal law against cannibalism, but within the state of Idaho, the act of eating human flesh can land someone in prison. As a result, cannibalism is technically allowed in the other 49 states, but laws against murder and the sale of human meat mean that it is incredibly difficult to do so.
