A thrifty clothes seller has revealed how she has stumped up an impressive sum just by selling her clothes and using one trick to beat the algorithm
Vinted is a great way to earn a little extra cash on the side – and one woman has shared her ultimate hack to rake in fortunes.
It can be seriously frustrating when you list a load of items and they don’t get any interest, and while there are so many hacks to get your items seen easier, savvy Vinted seller Maisie shared her secret little-known trick.
Vinted is great for clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of old clothes you no longer wear, and for Maisie, who goes by the name @curve_reselling online, she claims she’s made nearly £18,000 on the app.
Regularly sharing her tips and tricks for the best chance of selling, there is one way Maisie makes sure her clothes stand out among the rest, and explained why she’s no longer opting to take her photos using a white background. Now she takes them with a grey background and it’s working well.

“If you look at this grey background, the colour of this dress just shows up so much nicer,” Maisie said in the video. “In terms of colour theory and on the colour wheel, grey is actually a neutral background, while white and black absorb all the colours. So to get an accurate representation of the colour, a grey background is apparently the best for photography.
“And obviously as resellers we want to make sure that we’re getting the most accurate and the most professional pictures for our listings!” She then demonstrated how she’s hanging her items for sale against a grey wall, but said “lots of people have just a grey sheet of fabric, rug, whatever”.
‘Guess who is painting their wall grey now’
Fellow TikTokers were quick to comment their thoughts, with many praising the seller for her sneaky trick. One fan wrote: “Guess who is painting their wall grey now,” while a second chimed: “That makes sense I got grey walls all around my house just white doors I need a hook on my wall now lol thank you.”
It comes after fellow Vinted seller Isabella, a mum who dubs herself as a “girly on a hustle mission” shared some of her top tips for making money. She said in order to get people visiting your page and sell lots of items, you need to be regularly uploading and be consistent. Isabella said: “Post four to seven items daily, don’t post them all on the same day as they then become lost.”
She also suggests that if you have not sold an item after seven days, delete the item and repost it. This is a good strategy to increase its visibility, meaning a sale is more likely. However, Vinted does warn that excessive re-listing can be seen as spam.
Like many other Vinted sellers have suggested, Isabella also insists that photographing your items on a plain background, can help with sales. It allows the buyer to clearly see the item, colours, and avoid background distraction. She added: “Use natural lighting, good quality images and always show at least three images of the item.”
