A veteran journalist, who’s met Queen Camilla “a few times” over the years and allegedly even received a gift from her, has claimed that she is a “big” fan of one particular ITV chat show
An ITV star claims she received a present from Queen Camilla after making a cheeky joke at her expense. Janet Street-Porter, a veteran journalist who enjoys a role as panellist on the Queen’s much-adored chat show, revealed that she’s met Camilla “a few times” over the years, including at a charity reception.
In fact, she even says the Queen sent her a surprising gift from Clarence House, accompanied by a note, after Janet made a “teapot” comment about Camilla in jest in her column.
Janet’s journalistic efforts aside, however, it seems Camilla is also a fan of the show in which she stars. Janet, a regular panellist on daytime staple Loose Women since 2011, claimed the Queen is a “big” fan of the show.
Janet told the Times: “Queen Camilla is a big Loose Women fan. I’ve met her a few times, once at a reception for a domestic abuse charity.”
She continued: “She’d visited the set of The Killing and been given the sweater the leading lady wore, so I joked in my column that Camilla would look like a teapot wearing it. A week later I received a parcel from Clarence House with a note saying, ‘Dear Janet, here’s the sweater. You can wear it’.”
It wouldn’t be the first time that Camilla’s viewing habits have made headlines. Last year, reports emerged that she was a fan of a racy Disney+ series that reportedly reminded her of her ex-husband.
The show in question was an eight-part adaptation of the hugely popular romance author Jilly Cooper’s Rivals.
In the show, Alex Hassell plays the polo-loving Rupert Campbell-Black, whom Jilly admitted was inspired by Parker Bowles. She spoke about the topic when she appeared on the How To Fail podcast.
“He’s been a great friend for a long time… so he’s very like Rupert. He’s beautiful and blond and stunning,” Cooper said of Parker Bowles.
However, it’s worth noting that the Mail reports that Andrew only provided part of the inspiration for the character, claiming Rupert was actually something of a combination of six society gentlemen.
In related news, Camilla’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, has finally set the record straight on rumours that he was due to make an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing (another reported favourite of the Queen).
Indeed, in February 2024, she revealed that she was “one of Strictly’s greatest fans” when she was joined by Strictly pro Johannes Radebe during a royal engagement.
Speaking on Alan Titchmarsh’s Love Your Weekend, food critic Tom said: “My two children are embarrassed enough about my dad dancing at parties.
“The idea of me getting into sequins and sort of running like that… no! So it’s not true, and would never happen. Great show, obviously, but not for me.”
