A man’s told how he got revenge on the ex-friend who had tried to steal his girlfriend, telling his partner about his ‘weird, creepy’ behaviour to put her off

A man has told how the alleged ‘creepy’ behaviour of his once-friend led to him sabotaging his relationship in a self-confessed act of ‘petty revenge.’ After detailing the events leading up to it, he said that while he was at school, he noticed one of his friends, J, was flirting with his then-girlfriend, finding out from her that he had been behaving ‘inappropriately’ with her behind his back.

He said: “She told me that J had told her he had a foot fetish and asked for pictures of her feet. Obviously, I felt a little betrayed because he was my friend, and I was already a bit defensive to begin with as he was flirting with her.”

After telling the alleged story to his other friends, he was ‘shocked and stunned’ to find others had experienced the ‘weird, creepy’ behaviour too. He said: “We all decided to cut him off because this wasn’t a person we wanted to be around. One of the members of the friend group still chatted with him regularly, and I overheard that he was planning on asking a girl to the prom.”

After taking it upon himself to intervene, he allegedly got his prospective prom date’s telephone number to warn her about him: “I told her about J’s plans and how he had asked my girlfriend for feet pics. In my head, I told myself that it was a feminist issue and that she should be made aware of who exactly he is. I was probably just being petty.”

He then recalled how his revenge worked a treat, after J was publicly shunned by the girl: “He showed up to school with a bow tie and a bouquet of flowers, asking her: “Can I have a few moments of your time?” holding the flowers. She didn’t even look at him, stop walking, or even change pace. Just said “no” and left him there, stunned.”

However after finding out from friends that J had since become depressed, gaining a lot of weight following his rebuttal, he took his vengeful tale to Reddit to find out if readers believed he had played a part in his demise.

Many readers were on his side, with one commenting: “You didn’t sabotage anything, you provided the girl with the information you knew. She made the choice,” while another highlighted that depression wouldn’t have been over one incident alone: “It was likely the straw that broke the camel’s back. What you did might have been petty, but not undeserving, given his behaviour.”

Another said: “He has to take the initiative to get his life in order,” while one said his prospective prom date probably already knew about his behaviour: “If he is as creepy as you and your friends say, then she already knew he was a creep. Giving her a heads up was a good thing.”

One reader said the way she ignored him may have been the catalyst: “Ultimately this never would have happened if he hadn’t been an ass in the first place.” However, one reader sided with his foot-fetish friend, commenting: “You were immature and mean.”
