‘The bed was clean, and the floor was clean but the shower didn’t get too hot’
A man who spent a night at what could be the cheapest hotel in the UK, at just £16-a-night, says it wasn’t as bad as he thought it would be – and he’d happily stay again. George Redfern, 21, booked into the Coco Beach Hotel in Blackpool, which boasts a two-star rating on Booking.com and seems to be the most affordable accommodation in the country.
Despite his initial reservations, George found the experience more pleasant than anticipated. He has given a detailed review of the hotel, which could offer a very cheap staycation for anyone willing to give up a few hotel luxuries.
George, a content creator hailing from the Wirral, Merseyside, expressed his surprise at the cleanliness of the budget hotel, stating: “It surprised me how clean it was for a hotel that cheap, and I probably would stay there again. If I was to give a rating it would probably be a three and a half out of five. Probably because of the space of the room and the shower system.”
After searching for the UK’s cheapest hotel, George decided to book a room at the Coco Beach Hotel. Upon arrival, he admitted: “I knew a bit of what I looked like, and I knew it was going to be a run-down hotel. I knew it wasn’t going to be the nicest.”
He also recounted a minor hiccup upon arrival, saying: “It took about five minutes to get into the hotel because the landlord’s phone was broken. Someone from another hotel knew who he was, and they managed to get him.”
Once inside his room, George noted that while the room was generally clean, there were some marks on the curtains. He added: “For the price it was clean, but there were marks on the curtains, and I noticed that quite early.
“There was spray on the wall – it will probably put other people off. I got free towel and coffee facilities. There wasn’t much room in the room itself. The bed was clean, and the floor was clean but the shower didn’t get too hot.”
