A man was left mortified after he joked about his trip to the GP’s office on social media and was met with the horrifying truth about things people take in to their doctor

A man made a hilarious joke on social media about his recent GP visit, only to discover an uncomfortable truth about some people’s behaviour at their doctor’s office.

X/Twitter user @GoldenVision90 posted: “Just had to take a urine sample to my GP and at reception they asked me ‘does the doctor know about this already’. No, no. I just brought a cup of my wee as a present. Please don’t spoil the surprise.”

His comedic post garnered a staggering 68,000 likes for its witty charm. However, the laughter soon turned sour when another user, who claimed to have worked in a GP’s practice, revealed a distasteful reality.

The individual commented: “You would be amazed how often people just turn up with a urine sample, often in an old jam jar or a Tupperware. Probably once every other day when I worked in GP.” Yikes.

Amused by this grim revelation, @GoldenVision90 tweeted back: “It sounds far more common than I’d ever have guessed. Maybe I’m the prude for not randomly handing out samples of my poo at social gatherings.”

A GP receptionist also revealed that they had been given “poo in a tissue” – a truly horrifying situation. Another person commented: “Oh man, the amount of things that are handed over to us where we haven’t asked is huge. Once had a whole turd left in a Tupperware dish.”

An X user, who also had experience working at a doctor’s, said that sometimes people would bring in bodily fluids in jars, without having cleaned them out properly. They posted: “In jars… with remnants of jam, mustard, honey… and the like.” It’s safe to say that that’s quite disgusting…
