Aisha, from Manchester, recently travelled to North Wales from England, but it’s fair to say she was left underwhelmed by one particular part of the travel experience
A woman who tackled Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) for the first time was left stunned by the ordeal, and it’s not the first occasion the mountain has left people rather bewildered. Aisha, from Manchester, recently travelled miles to Wales to attempt the trek, but it’s fair to say she was left distinctly unimpressed by the adventure.
The content creator, who boasts over 60,000 followers on TikTok, said her footage serves as a warning “not to go hiking”, as she insisted she wouldn’t attempt it again following her Welsh escapade. She chose to tackle Yr Wyddfa for enjoyment, but her expedition appeared to be anything but pleasurable.
Across the footage, she penned: “‘Let’s go to Snowdon for a hike’, he said. ‘It’ll be fun’, he said.” The clip then reveals Aisha ascending the peak in shorts, battling against the wind and rain – and numerous other individuals have previously shared how the ascent has left them somewhat stunned too.
What might astonish people is Aisha declared the view from the summit is “definitely not worth it”. Despite the splendour Wales has to offer, it appears some individuals believe the treks to appreciate the picturesque landscapes can simply be too demanding.
The footage has been watched hundreds of times since it was posted, and dozens of people responded as well. People were swift to commend Aisha for completing the trek.
One person said: “I saw you yesterday coming down the Llanberis path. You smashed it down there. Well done!” Another chimed in with: “I did it yesterday – my legs are destroyed.”
To which Aisha responded: “Same, even standing is painful.” A third shared: “Haha, I was literally crying, having a panic attack to turn back when I hiked with my boyfriend. He hated me.”
Meanwhile, a fourth queried: “How long did it take you to complete? My husband and I are doing it on Saturday.”
In response to the query, Aisha confirmed that their journey took five hours in total, admitting they were keen to “get out of there ASAP”. She pointed out that for some, the trek can take up to eight hours, depending on how much time they spend at the summit and rest.
Aisha advised: “You should definitely go. Just mentally prepare – it’s painful.” Others also confessed that the hike can be challenging, but many seem to love the views.
Yr Wyddfa, located in Snowdonia in North Wales, is the country’s highest mountain, boasting an elevation of 1,085 metres above sea level. It’s also the tallest in the British Isles, south of the Scottish Highlands.
It’s recognised as a national nature reserve due to its unique flora and fauna. If you’re interested in visiting, you’ll find it nestled in Snowdonia National Park.
The mountain is home to various lakes, with Llyn Lydaw being the largest, situated on the eastern flank. Historically, the mountain has been referred to as the “busiest in the United Kingdom.”
In 2022, it was reported that a whopping 543,541 walkers had scaled the mountain. There are six main routes to the top, with the most frequented one beginning in the northern town of Llanberis.
The summit can also be reached via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, which impressively transported 98,567 passengers in 2021. It’s an incredibly popular mountain, attracting thousands of visitors annually.
During peak times, such as summer weekends, it’s not uncommon for queues to form at the summit of Yr Wyddfa as people wait their turn to reach the summit pillar. This typically occurs at the steps leading to the trig point; however, it’s still possible to savour the summit area without joining the queue.
