Strictly Come Dancing 2025 contestant La Voix said she is one of the very few people to have witnessed the late Queen Elizabeth II act in such a way
Strictly Come Dancing’s La Voix has opened up about a surprising moment she witnessed at a private royal party. The 45-year-old said she was invited to perform at Prince William and Prince Harry’s New Year’s Eve bash held at London’s swanky Dorchester Hotel, and was taken aback by how “normal” the family were.
Reflecting on a particular surprising moment, La Voix recalled spotting the now late Queen Elizabeth II showing off her moves to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ chart-topping hit, Uptown Funk.
She said of what she witnessed: “I’ve [performed] for the Royal Family for two years in a row. I did their New Year’s Eve party at the Dorchester for two years in a row for Prince William and Harry – it was their party and it was amazing.
“Obviously there were loads of NDAs signed and things that I’m not allowed to talk about – I can’t give you too much – but, I can say, I’m one of the only people to have watched the Queen dance to Uptown Funk, Queen Liz.”
Sharing her thoughts on the former monarch’s move, La Voix admitted she was rather impressed by what she saw, reports Wales Online.
“She was amazing! The biggest experience I had from that was it was like watching a regular family have a party – it just felt so normal and so wonderful. I was really honoured to have been able to do that, it was amazing,” she added.
The Rupaul’s Drag Race UK star looks back on this moment as one of her most memorable career highlights to date, along with being asked to join this year’s Strictly Come Dancing line-up.
“That was amazing, a bit like doing Strictly. There are certain calls you get where you go, ‘Oh my god, that’s amazing,’ and to get the call to do that for the royals was incredible. So yeah, [it was] definitely a highlight,” she added.
More recently, the royal-approved performer has been dazzling audiences on the Strictly dance floor with her professional partner Aljaž Škorjanec.
So far, the pair have performed a Jive and an American Smooth, and are set to return with a Waltz routine to Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins this weekend.
Beyond her Strictly commitments, La Voix will also shortly be gearing up for her part as Dame Trott in Jack and the Beanstalk, at the Wycombe Swan Theatre this Christmas period.
“Everything I’ve wanted to do has all come at the same time – it’s wonderful, but it’s like, just keep calm and carry on,” she said of her jam-packed schedule.
“I’ve never done a Jack and the Beanstalk [show]. I’ve done pantomime for 20-odd years – Aladdin, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast – but never Jack and the Beanstalk, so it’ll be a first for me. I’m playing Dame Trott, basically I’m a farmer. I don’t know how they’re going to make La Voix into a farmer, but I’m excited to bring glamour to the farming community!
“Again, it’s another thing I’m doing during this autumn and winter period – is there anything I’m not doing? It’s like outreach for me.
“The world is a very unfunny place at the minute and I feel like people need glamour, laughter, and entertainment – and that’s what I aim to do. Pantomime is a great example.”
Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight at 6.05pm on BBC One.
