Imagine you’ve met the perfect man. He’s handsome, funny and caring, but there’s just one thing about him that you simply can’t just look past – his disgusting home
A nightmarish situation has plagued one woman’s relationship – but she doesn’t quite know how to unveil the truth.
Imagine you’ve met the perfect man. He’s handsome, funny and caring, but there’s just one thing about him that you simply can’t just look past. This is the sticky dilemma one 23-year-old has now fallen into, after dating one man for almost a year.
While he’s been ‘treating her very well’ and she simply has no complaints, his house is really starting to bug her. “Every time that I go over, a roach appears,” the woman confessed, taking anonymously to Reddit.
“I have been over a handful of times because we always go out for dinner, but when I do, I’m always looking out for a roach.” The nameless woman claimed this 23-year-old man lives with his parents which may ‘influence’ the situation.
But there’s been far too many cockroach surprises to handle. They crawl up the walls, on his furniture and even under the bed – but this wasn’t even the worst of it, she claimed.
“I can ignore it because it is far away from me, but I drew the line today when I went to the bathroom and at least 15 adult and baby roaches scurried about,” she wrote. “When I had returned to his room, a roach crawled on my drink, which I threw away in disgust and then proceeded to go home immediately afterwards. It was a nightmare as I am terrified of bugs and maintain my own house to be very clean.”
Confused and conflicted, the woman is now unsure what to do next. She wants to tell her boyfriend that it’s freaking her out, but she’s trying to figure out a ‘polite’ way to do so. “I’m terrified of bringing a problem into my home, so I don’t know how to tell him politely that I love his company but hate the roaches who live with him,” she said.
Unsurprisingly, the anonymous confession was quick to rack up plenty of comments on the platform. One person wrote: “Why is it so hard to talk to your partner? He must know he has a roach problem. Tbh this is disgusting and I wouldn’t go over to that house anymore.”
Another added: “You need to find out what kind of roaches those are. If they are German Roaches, it is expensive and difficult and needs a professional exterminator. They are carnivores, and when you kill one, the babies come and eat the bodies. They live in metal and infest fridges, dishwashers, cabinet hinges, etc. It has cost me a thousand dollars and four months of treatment so far.”
